Key characteristics
- Origin: Thailand
- Ideal number kept together: 5+
- Ideal aquarium size: 20L+
Behaviour:
Assassin Snails are completely plant safe and can be relied upon to remove unwanted pest snails in planted aquaria, If there are no other snails for them to prey on then care should be taken to ensure they are fed. Assassin Snails have been known to feed on fish eggs so it would be best not to put them into a breeding tank unless the fish are live bearers
Assassin Snail Care: Moderate
One of the good things is that Assassin Snail care is no too difficult. Its not as easy as caring for some other types of snails, but as long as water conditions are right, and food is plentiful, Assassin Snail care does not take much effort. The keys are tank size and stability. When adding new Assassin Snails to a tank, go so slowly and gently. Try to make sure the display tank water in the plastic bag matches the new tank water parameters as closely as possible.
Feeding
Offer a variety of meaty foods. Will consume small snails, bloodworm, white mosquito larvae, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp & Mysis, sinking catfish pellets/granules etc.
As a useful guide we recommend 5 snails per 70 Litres.
Acclimation On Arrival - When your snails arrive, we advise that you float the snails in your tank to allow them to adjust to your tank’s temperature after their time in the post, slowly adding your tank water until the snails are fully submerged. Please allow the snails up to 24 hours in your tank once acclimated to emerge from their shells.
