About

Frogbit is an attractive aquatic plant that floats on the surface of ponds, lakes and still waterways. Looking like a small water-lily, it is in bloom during July and August. In the winter, it becomes dormant and its buds are buried in the mud at the bottom of the pond. When it grows back, it provides shelter for tadpoles, small fish and dragonfly larvae

So simple, just drop in your pond and allow to grow and flower, and will return year on year.

Description

The Frog-bit grows best in ponds, lakes and still waterways, with its rosette of small leaves and three-petalled white flowers often blooming during the months of July and August. What makes the Frog-bit particularly unique is its winter dormancy; when winter comes, the plant’s buds bury themselves in the mud at the bottom of the pond until they re-emerge come spring. Not only does this make for quite the resilient plant, but it also provides valuable shelter for tadpoles.

NOTE THE LEAVES ARE VERY FRAGILE AND SOME DAMAGE MAY OCCUR IN TRANSIT PLANTS WILL RECOVER

We suggest 3-5 small floating Frogbit plants per 1m², 1 plant in a small pond will be miniscule.

Care instructions

Allow Frogbit to die back naturally as in the autumn small buds are formed which fall off and sink to the bottom and the old plant rots away. Winter buds remain on the bottom to rise again in the spring to form new plants.

Will grow all year round in a tropical tank.
