Creeping Jenny (Lysimachia nummularia) is a versatile UK-native plant, perfect for adding vibrant greenery and splashes of golden-yellow colour to ponds, containers, and boggy areas. This mat-forming perennial produces charming, rounded leaves on trailing stems that cascade over rocks, pond edges, or container pond rims. From June to August, it bursts into bloom with bright, golden-yellow flowers that attract pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Creeping Jenny’s vigorous growth provides excellent groundcover, offering shade and shelter for amphibians like frogs and toads. Fully hardy and thriving in moist to wet soils, this plant is easy to grow and ideal for both naturalistic ponds and small container water features, combining beauty with biodiversity benefits.

Growing Tips: Creeping Jenny thrives in consistently moist or wet soils, making it perfect for a variety of settings, including pond margins, bog gardens, and container ponds. It grows well in full sun or partial shade, with its trailing stems naturally cascading over pond edges or planters. Its fast growth may require occasional trimming to control its spread, but this also makes it an excellent choice for stabilising soil around water features. Divide clumps every few years in spring to maintain its health and vigour.
